The Library held Reading Party of "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success"

On the evening of September 27th, the reading party of "Mindset, The New Psychology of Success", as one of the Library's series activities for the new semester, was held at the zuomuniao bookclub on the first floor of Run Run Shaw Library. This event was hosted by the library of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and undertaken by the zuomuniao bookclub, attracting more than 50 teachers and students.


The reading party

The theme of this reading party was the book "Mindset, The New Psychology of Success" written by Carol S.Dweck. It invited Lyu Xinping, a co-founder of Fuzhou Fanden bookstore, to lead the reading. The book "Mindset, The New Psychology of Success" mainly elaborated two modes of mindsets: fixed mindset and growth mindset, how the two modes of mindset were presented in different fields, and the way to cultivate growth mindset.

The salon

Leading the reading, Lyu Xinping enabled the audiences' profound understanding of the book in a vivid and interesting way. He compared the two mindsets from various angles, and told everyone how to cultivate growth mindset in the future, and how to impart this kind of mindset to others. In the interaction session, Lyu Xinping made a full exchange with the teachers and students present, and the reading party ended with the full enichment of everyone.

Ma Jingwei, a student in ecological science studying at the International College since fall 2018, expressed that lifelong growth is the growth of a tree that never stagnates, but keeps the initial passion and stays motivated; the mind maps issued by the teacher after the class systematically recorded and analyzed the opinions introduced, and would provide great help to change the fixed mindset in learning and life and to become a lifelong learner with growth mindset. She expected the next reading party salon to be held as scheduled.
