Recently, Nature published a paper entitled “Single-molecule sequencing of the desiccation tolerant grass Oropetium thomaeum”, of which FAFU was the main participated research unit of the paper. The paper published the complete genomic sequence of the Oropetium thomaeum, of which Professor Tang Haibao of the Center for Genomics and Biotechnology of the Cross-strait Joint Research Institute has participated in the related research work. This research achievement was published in the journal of 《Nature》 on November 26th, 2015. The Oropetium thomaeum dehydrates in extremely dry conditions, and will revive again under the condition of water, so the complete sequencing of the genome of this specie is helpful to study the biological mechanism of drought resistance and stress tolerance. Tang Haibao is Professors of Hundred Talents Program of Fujian Province. Since his appointment at FAFU, he has already published numerous research papers in the high-level journals such as 《Nature Genetics》as co- first author, and 《Genome Biology》and《Genome Biology and Evolution》as the first author, and FAFU as the first research unit. He also published papers in the high-level journals such as 《Science》、《Nature》、《PNAS》、《Plant Cell》 etc, of which FAFU was the participated research unit.
