Recently, the research team led by Dr. Deng Zuhu, a researcher from National Engineering Research Center for Sugarcane (NERCS) of FAFU, has published online a research paper in New phytologist titled “Chromosome-specific painting unveils chromosomal fusions and distinct allopolyploid species in the Saccharum complex”, marking a major research progress on sugarcane cytogenetics.

The research paper was published with Yu Fan, a 2021 doctoral candidate of FAFU and Zhao Xinwang, a research associate at NERCS of FAFU as the co-first authors, Dr. Deng Zuhu as corresponding author and Prof. Jiang Jiming from Michigan State University (MSA) as an expert providing support. It was funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant NO. 31771863 and NO. 3180143), Scientific Research Foundation of Graduate School of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (Grant NO. 324-1122yb056) and Guangxi Key Laboratory of Sugarcane Biology Project.
