From Oct 15 to 22, upon the invitation of Faustin Archange Touadéra, the President of Central African Republic(CAR), FAFU sent a group of experts to CAR for Bee Science research and technical training. The expert group was led by Su Songkun, thedeputy director of the College of Animal Sciences(College of Bee Science), other teacher members including Li Jianghong, Chen Linbin, Xu Xinjian, ect. The expected goals have been achieved , marking the complete success of this cooperation. During the visit, the expert group was well received by Faustin Archange Touadéra, the President of CAR and Chen Dong, the Chinese Ambassador in CAR, ect.

On October 20, President Faustin Archange Touadéra met the expert group. He told the experts that bee is of great significance to biodiversity conservation and agriculture in CAR and expected them to bring the Modern Apiculture to CAR. Su Songkun explained to President Touadéra and his wife the bee’s relationship with human and the standardization techniques of bee rearing in China. He then gave a brief introduction to Bee Science in FAFU and demonstrated a Chinese modern apiculture technique — movable frame hives, promising to develop the Modern Apiculture in CAR, thereby further enhancing the friendship between China and CAR.

Ambassador Chen Dong emphasized that assisting the CAR in accelerating the implementation of modern apiculture techniques is strategically significant for the relations between the two countries, and hoped the expert group will play a positive role.

During the visit, the expert group offered technical training courses of Apiculture in CAR’s ministry of livestock, teaching relevant knowledge of Bee Science and receiving high praise from trainees. In addition, through the on-the-spot investigation, expert group provided technical guidance and constructive suggestions for two representative wild apiaries in Bangui, the capital of the CAR. Meanwhile, thanks to the considerate arrangements of President Touadéra, the expert group was given a tour of the Demonstration Base of JUNCAO, edible fungus and upland rice, an aid project conducted by FAFU JUNCAO Research Institute.
