Professor Tang Jiang from Huazhong University of Science and Technology came to our school for an academic report


         Professor Tang Jiang from Huazhong University of Science and Technology gave an academic report entitled New Photoelectric Conversion Materials and Devicesin the lecture hall of Qishan Campus beginning at 9:00 on November 18th, 2019. More than fifty teachers, graduate students and international students attended the report.

  

          Materials are the cornerstone of modern society, and high-quality optoelectronic materials are the key to achieving high-performance optoelectronic devices. Professor Tang Jiang introduced the latest research progress of his research group on new photoelectric conversion materials and devices in recent years, including: 1. Systematic work has been carried out on the photoelectric and physicochemical characteristics of thin film of antimony selenide, film preparation and device optimization. Novel physical properties of intrinsic inertness at the grain boundaries were discovered, and a new antimony selenide thin film solar cell with excellent stability and flexibility was prepared. 2. Utilizing unique wide luminescence characteristics of cesium silver indium chloride self-confined excitons (STE), a single-matrix white phosphor Cs2NaAgInCl6: Bi with a luminous efficiency of 86% was developed. 3. Combined with chiral organic molecules and inorganic framework, PEAPbI3 chiral perovskite material was developed, which realized the application of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite material in high-performance circular polarization detection.

  

          Professor Tang Jiang not only introduced its research content and research progress, but also talked about how to do scientific research and achieve innovation, how to manage and motivate the team group members, and how to combine talents from different disciplines together in a witty way. The teachers and students present were deeply attracted by Professor Tang Jiang’s fascinating lectures, especially his ideas and practices on scientific research and innovation, team management, etc. The attended teachers were inspired by Professor Tang Jiang report, and came up with a lot of questiones to Professor Tang Jiang.

  

Introduction of the reporter:

          Tang Jiang, male, professor and deputy director of the Wuhan Optoelectronics National Research Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, dean of the School of Optics and Electronic Information, receiver of Outstanding Youth Fund, Outstanding Youth Fund, and the Ministry of Science and Technology ’s Ten Thousand-Year Program ’s technology innovation leader. He graduated from the Department of Chemical Physics, University of Science and Technology of China in 2003, and graduated from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto in 2010. He entered the IBM Watson Research Headquarters for postdoctoral research in 2011 and joined Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a professor in 2012. Focusing on the research of new photoelectric conversion materials and devices, he was one of the first to carry out the research of new antimony selenide thin film solar cells, the preparation of low detection limit cesium silver bismuth bromine single crystal X-ray detector and high fluorescence yield single matrix Cs2NaAgInCl6 white phosphor. In the past 5 years, he has published more than 100 articles in journals including Nature, Nature Photonics, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, and his papers have been cited more than 8600 times. His research team is currently devoted to antimony selenide thin film solar cells, X-ray and infrared detection and imaging, perovskite luminescent materials and devices.
