On April 2nd, Ms. Sogavare, Acting President of the Solomon Islands Women’s Federation, led a delegation of young leaders and women representatives from the Solomon Islands to FAFU, accompanied by Vice Director Zhang Yang from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Zheng Baodong, FAFU’s Vice President, Prof. Lin Zhanxi, Chief Scientist of China National Engineering Research Center of JUNCAO Technology, officials from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and representatives from the China-Pacific Island Countries Poverty Alleviation and Cooperative Development Center also participated in relevant activities.
School officials meet with Solomon Islands Delegation
Professor Zheng Baodong extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced the education model, international cooperation development, and enrollment of international students in FAFU. He emphasized the role of JUNCAO technology in supporting poverty alleviation and development in the Pacific Island countries, promoting women’s and youth’s employment, enhancing food security, addressing climate change, and achieving sustainable development. To act on the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, both sides should leverage the China-Pacific Island Countries Juncao Technology Demonstration Center in Fiji to promote the application of JUNCAO technology in the Solomon Islands through technical training and collaborative education so as to benefit the local people.
Ms. Sogavare introduced the development challenges faced by the Solomon Islands. She pointed out that JUNCAO technology is a green technology that aligns with the local urgent needs to promote sustainable development and improve people’s livelihoods. She expressed hope for deepening bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the fields of science and education, particularly in enhancing women’s and youth’s capacity for employment and entrepreneurship, to assist small island countries in collectively addressing climate change.

The delegation also visited China National Engineering Research Center of JUNCAO Technology at FAFU. They gained detailed insights into the development history of JUNCAO technology, cultivation of medicinal and edible mushrooms, processing of JUNCAO-based feed, JUNCAO’S industrial development and utilization, JUNCAO-based ecological governance, and the promotion and application of JUNCAO technology in the Pacific Island countries.
