Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) stands out as a comprehensive university with a well-balanced multidisciplinary system, featuring agricultural and forestry sciences and life sciences as its core strengths. With a long-standing history and profound academic excellence, the University is one of the top-tier universities in Fujian and a pivotal hub for agricultural and forestry education and research in southern China.
The past eighty years have witnessed our dedication and progress in talent nurturing, cutting-edge research, social services, global engagements as well as significant contribution to rural revitalization, modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and global poverty alleviation. Committed to the educational philosophy of “fostering both integrity and competence, striving for balanced growth and focused excellence”, the University is home to over 300,000 outstanding graduates. Our culture of academic innovation has yielded landmark achievements across research frontiers including plant virology, genomics of agricultural and forestry crops, Juncao technology, sugarcane technology, tea science, bee science and specialized studies in rice, Chinese fir, orchids, edible fungi, large yellow croaker, marine food processing, and biomass utilization. So far, FAFU has been credited as the primary affiliation of first or corresponding authors in 18 high-impact papers published in the three top-tier international journals: Cell, Nature, and Science. At present, ten of our disciplines rank within the ESI Global Top 1%, with Plant & Animal Science, and Agricultural Sciences in the top 0.1%. Meanwhile, we take the initiative to foster a global perspective through developing partnerships with over 100 institutions from 40-plus countries and regions. We are accredited by the Ministry of Education to receive international students under the Chinese Government Scholarships program from the CSC (China Scholarship Council) and currently have enrolled over 160 degree-seeking international students from more than 40 countries. Moreover, our strategic initiatives like FAFU-Dal Joint College and FAFU-UBC cooperative education programs enable us to foster outstanding professionals with global vision and competence.
