On December 11, Lai Hairong, Chair of the University Council, met with Professor Anja-Désirée Senz, former Vice President of Heidelberg University, at the Mingde Building in Cangshan Campus.

Lai Hairong extended a warm welcome to Professor Anja-Désirée Senz and briefly introduced the FAFU’s history, discipline development, talent training, and international exchanges and cooperation. He noted that Heidelberg University, as one of Germany’s oldest and most prestigious universities, has been home to dozens of Nobel laureates and enjoys a high reputation in fields such as medicine, chemistry, physics, and humanities and social sciences. There is huge potential for cooperation between the two universities in academic research and faculty or student exchanges. He expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further enhance communication and ties between the two schools, promoting cooperation and exchanges in environmental protection, food science, and rural governance, and jointly fostering high-quality talents with global visions. He invited Professor Anja-Désirée Senz to visit FAFU again next year for exchange and research activities.
Professor Anja-Désirée Senz applauded FAFU’s achievements in fields like agricultural and forestry sciences and life sciences. She introduced Heidelberg University’s history and key majors, and welcomed FAFU’s faculty and students to visit Germany for exchanges and study. She hoped that the two universities could engage in comprehensive cooperation in areas such as student exchange programs, faculty training, and joint scientific research in the future.
Also, both sides exchanged views on topics of mutual interest such as climate change, renewable energy, and rural governance. During her visit, Professor Anja-Désirée Senz was also invited to deliver an academic lecture titled “China-Germany Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” for FAFU’s faculty and students.
