On the morning of 21st April, the tenth batch delegation of leaders from Pacific Island countries led by Samiu Vaipulu, Tonga’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice visited FAFU, accompanied by Representatives from the embassies of Fiji and Tonga in China, Ke Zhizhong, director of the Information Center of the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC, Chen Guoquan, member of a leading Party members group and deputy director of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province, Lan Siren, the president of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Zheng Baodong, the vice president of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and leaders from the Central Department, Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Province and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. Lin Zhanxi, the chief scientist of China National Engineering Research Center of Juncao Technology also accompanied the visit.

Samiu Vaipulu and his entourage went to the China National Engineering Research Center of Juncao Technology, inspected the JuncaoYuan Square, International Juncao Garden, Juncao Mushroom Shed, Juncao Exhibition Hall, etc., and watched the on-site crushing fresh Juncao with great interest. Samiu Vaipulu listened and watched while walking, showing great interest in planting technology, economic value and processing of medicinal mushroom of Juncao and every kind of Juncao Mushroom, asking questions several times and communicating with experts from time to time. When Lynda Tabuya, Fiji’s Minister of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, saw the Juncao Mushroom Shed, she said excitedly that she really felt the charm of Juncao and its technology, and would promote it among women after returning to Fiji.

During the expedition, the two sides jointly planted a Juncao that symbolizes friendship. Samuel Vaipulu also gladly inscribed. Representatives of Tonga, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Kiribati also inscribed praise for the Juncao technology.

Thereafter, the two sides held a symposium at Changsheng Conference Center. On behalf of the Pacific Island countries, Gracia Chadrack, First Deputy Speaker of the Vanuatu Parliament expressed her gratitude to China and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University because the support and investment of China and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University have benefited the Pacific Island countries a lot. During the symposium, the delegation also watched a short video introducing FAFU and listened to the work of the National Juncao Engineering Technology Research Center and the China-Pacific Island Countries Poverty Reduction and Development Cooperation Center.
