On July 1st, the FAFU research team led by Professor Liao Hong and Chen Zhichang published a paper titled “A natural uORF variant confers phosphorus acquisition diversity in soybean” in Nature Communications. The paper has found and verified that “a common SNP in an upstream open reading frame (uORF) of GmPHF1, which alters the abundance of GmPHF1 in a tissue-specific manner, contributes to P acquisition diversity in soybean.”
Guo Zilong, Assotciate Professor of FAFU and Cao Hongrui, doctoral student of FAFU, are the co-first authors of the paper, with Professor Liao Hong and Chen Zhichang being the co-corresponding authors. FAFU Professor Sun Lili and Professor Tian Jiang, Wang Xiurong and Zhao Jing from South China Agricultural University have also contributed to the research. The research is funded by China National Key Program for Research and Development, the Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
