BRI Delegation Visits FAFU

A Belt and Road Initiative delegation visited FAFU on October 23rd. Accompanying the delegation were Mr. Zheng Yao, a high-ranking official from the International Exchange Office of the International Department, Central Committee of CPC, and Mr. Luo Guansheng, a high-level official from Fujian Foreign Affairs Office and Vice President of Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Professor Zheng Baodong, Vice President of FAFU, Professor Lin Zhanxi, chief scientist of Juncao Technology Research Center, as well as department heads from the university’s International Cooperation Office and College of JunCao Science and Ecology.

Visiting the National Engineering Research Center of JunCao Technology 

The delegation first visited the National Engineering Research Center of JunCao Technology, where they were briefed on the technology and its service to the Belt and Road Initiative. Afterwards, the delegates and university officials exchanged views on Juncao-related issues. Professor Zheng Baodong first welcomed the delegation on behalf of the university and then introduced FAFU’s recent efforts in promoting people-to-people connectivity between China and other countries within the BRI framework. He reiterated President Xi’s proposal of “Eight Actions” to achieve high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and made clear that FAFU will step up her efforts accordingly. Ms. Lamin Jammeh, Gambia’s Minister of Information, thanked FAFU for its hospitality and expressed hope that more Belt and Road countries will be benefited from the BRI framework through JunCao technology cooperation, educational partnership, and student enrollment. Later, the delegates also watched presentations of FAFU and JunCao technology, and discussed how FAFU could work with relevant countries on issues regarding educational and JunCao technological cooperation.

On the spot of the discussion 

Comprised of government officials and civilians from Gambia, Italy, Ethiopia, Romania, and Malaysia, the delegation was in China for the People-to-People Connectivity Forum, part of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. They visited FAFU to gain a first-hand knowledge of how the university participated in the Belt and Road Initiative.
