Delegation from Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou visits FAFU

On the morning of October 17th, Behzad Babakhani, Consul General of Canada in Guangzhou, led a delegation of three people, including the Deputy Consul General and Senior Commercial Officer, to visit our university. Vice President Zheng Baodong received the delegation at the Administration Building of the Qishan Campus and held a discussion with them. Also in attendance at the reception were representatives from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of FAFU, and the FAFU-Dal Joint College.

On the Spot of Exchanges

Vice President Zheng Baodong welcomed Consul General Behzad on behalf of the university and expressed gratitude for the consul general’s congratulatory message at the unveiling ceremony of the FAFU-Dal Joint College. Subsequently, Zheng provided the delegation with an overview of FAFU’s educational endeavors and collaborations with Canadian universities, with a special emphasis on China-Canada cooperative education initiatives, facilitating cultural exchanges between China and Canada, and supporting the friendship and development between Fujian and Nova Scotia. Zheng emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening collaborations with Dalhousie University and the University of British Columbia, with the aim of elevating Sino-Canadian joint educational programs. The university strives to broaden the scope of cooperative majors and levels, and explore international cooperative education, scientific research collaboration, and high-level talent cultivation in fields such as food science, environmental engineering, and artificial intelligence with Canadian universities.

Consul General Behzad once again congratulated FAFU on its successful collaboration with Dalhousie University, a prestigious Canadian institution, in establishing the joint college. He stated that the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou is pleased to see the diverse collaborations between FAFU and Canadian universities and institutions. Canada gives high priority to global issues such as food safety and climate change, and will continue to support the joint college in enhancing cooperative education. He finally wishes the joint college further success in its educational endeavors.

Before the exchanges, Zheng accompanied the delegation on a tour of the teaching and office facilities of the FAFU-Dal Joint College.
