Professor Satoshi Ogawa, President of Japan’s Iwate University, led a delegation to visit FAFU on December 5th. The delegation was warmly welcomed by FAFU Council Chair Lai Hairong and Vice President Zheng Baodong.
On the Spot of Meeting
In his welcome address, Professor Lai outlined FAFU’s recent achievements and emphasized the longstanding partnership between the two universities. He noted their successful cooperation in food science, biology, plant protection, and forestry, which has yielded substantial results and benefited faculty and students in both universities through an array of exchanges, research, and interactions. He called for expanded collaboration to achieve higher-level development for both institutions.
President Ogawa thanked FAFU for its hospitality and commended the university’s remarkable achievements in discipline development, scientific research, and faculty recruitment. Since the partnership’s establishment in 2017, the universities have maintained frequent exchanges and produced significant research outcomes. He expressed eagerness to deepen cooperation in agriculture, forestry, engineering, and other fields to promote mutual development.
Exchanges between FAFU and Iwate University Delegation
The delegation later engaged in detailed discussions on future cooperation. They also visited the Haixia Institute of Science and Technology, the National Key Laboratory for Cross-Strait Ecological Pest Control, and the Daily Fresh Food Science Center. The visit concluded with a meeting with Professor Wu Shuang’s team from the Metabolomics Center to explore potential cooperation in teaching, research, and student exchange.
