On the afternoon of January 19, 2022, the six-member delegation led by H.E. Mr. Fernando Lugris, Uruguayan Ambassador to China, visited FAFU and held discussions in promoting cooperation in education and scientific research. ZHENG Baodong, Vice president of FAFU, met with the delegation and presided over the discussions. The officials of the Division of Consular Affairs of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province and personnel of Fujian Zhongying Chuanghui International Trade Co., Ltd. also attended the meeting.

ZHENG Baodong welcomed the guests and briefly introduced FAFU’s teaching, scientific research, social services and international cooperation. ZHENG expressed his hope to establish more cooperative partnerships with Uruguayan universities in FAFU’s advantageous fields such as agriculture and forestry development, food processing, environmental protection, marine fisheries and animal science. Thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative, the cooperation between China and Uruguay has stepped into a new stage of development, and FAFU will take this opportunity to actively make breakthroughs in exchanges and cooperation with Uruguayan universities in scientific research cooperation, talents training and cultural exchange.
Mr. Fernando Lugris thanked FAFU for the warm reception. He pointed out that Uruguay has developed agriculture and animal husbandry and is an important agricultural products trading partner of China, and humanities exchange will be an important bridge to promote the development of Sino-Uruguay cooperation. He also said that embassies and consulates of Uruguay to China will actively support cooperation between FAFU and Uruguayan universities, encourage more outstanding young people to come to FAFU for exchanging and studying, and promote academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation in related fields.
