On the afternoon of March 24th, FAFU held a video conference with the Ethiopian Embassy in China and Wolaita Sodo University to promote cooperation on higher education. Teshome Toga, Ethiopian Ambassador to China, with a 10-person delegation including officials of the Ethiopian Embassy in China and school leaders of Wolaita Sodo University, and Zheng Baodong, Vice President of FAFU, and faculty of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and China National Engineering Research Center of JUNCAO Technology attended the video conference.
Online Meeting with Ethiopian Embassy in China and Wolaita Sodo University
At the meeting, Teshome, Ethiopian Ambassador to China, said that China and Ethiopia are comprehensive strategic partners with great potential for education cooperation, and Ethiopia supports and actively participates in the development of “the Belt and Road Initiative”. In September 2021, Fujian Province was twinned with Addis Ababa of Ethiopia. The Embassy of Ethiopia in China hopes to promote exchanges and cooperation between Ethiopian universities and Fujian universities, and expects to jointly promote multi-level cooperation between Wolaita Sodo University and FAFU in related fields.
Zheng Baodong, Vice President of FAFU, thanked Ambassador Teshome for facilitating this online meeting and expressed FAFU’s willingness to strengthen cooperation with Ethiopian universities and advance the Belt and Road Initiative. He also mentioned that FAFU would like to cooperate with Wolaita Sodo University in the areas including exchange of students and faculty, joint training of high-level talents and joint scientific research to facilitate China-Africa humanities exchanges and contribute to the construction of our sister cities. The attendees from both sides also had an in-depth discussion on matters related to the signing of cooperation agreements between the two universities.
