Experts from Canada Alberta Agricultural Ministry came to our school for communication

On 24th, May, Dr.Huang xiao fang and Dr.Zhang gan fa, came from Canada Alberta Agricultural Ministry were invited to our college for academic communication, and given reports titled “the comprehensive treatment of Plasmodiophora brassicae” and“the disease management of Main leguminous plants in Canada Alberta ”, on the academic hall of Biological pesticide and chemical biology of ministry of education key laboratory of 6th floor. In the same time, the two experts took a deep exchange about something scientific with faculty and students. Wang zong hua, the vice-president, was the host to this report.

Additionally, Dr.Huang xiao fang and Dr.Zhang gan fa had an informal discussion with young teachers and graduate students of plant pathology discipline in meeting room 703, BoXue building, and shared pretty experience about scientific research. The discussion was hosted by Professor Lu guo dong. After the discussion, Dean Wei Taiyun met with the guests.

According to reports, Dr.Huang xiao fang is the researcher of Alberta, Canada Ministry of Agriculture crop research and promotion pest control division, plant pathologist, and furthermore is a adjunct professor of food and nutrition sciences, Agriculture University of Alberta. She is mainly engaged in legume, forage grass, medicinal crop disease control study, and published over 200 papers. In 2011, she won highest award for outstanding research achievement award of the plant pathology of Canadian Academy. The rape root disease team that leaded by her won a silver medal of Alberta governor in 2011, and won the Achievement Award of the plant pathology of Canadian Academy.


Dr Zhang gan fa is senior fellow at the Alberta Department of Agriculture. What’s more, he is the professor of food and nutrition sciences, Agriculture University of Alberta. From 2006 to 2016, Dr.Zhang engaged in the research of leguminosae crop diseases, and had found and reported many new diseases. Importantly, he was the first man to research the downy mildew and lupine root rot of pea in Canada. Dr.zhang published a total of more than 200 academic theses during the study period.
