CCIS Invited Experts At Home and Abroad to Held A Seminar on The Innovation of Engineering Science Development

In the morning of January 6th, 2017, a seminar on the innovation of Engineering Science development was held at the Conference Room on the third floor of college Office Building, and, faculty and students from Engineering related majors attended the seminar. Experts attending the conference were Professor Wang Jiangzhou, Dean of School of Engineering,University of Kent, IEEE Fellow, and Distinguished Professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program, Professor Min Geyong from University of Exeter, UK and the member of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, as well as professor Shu Feng, Chair Professor of Minjiang Scholars Program, and Professor Xu Qingxian from Chung Hua University. Besides, the attendees also concluded college leadership such as Party Secretary Chen Yida, Dean Chen Riqing, and Deputy Dean Liu Jinfu, as well as over ten teachers from Engineering Majors. The seminar was presided over by Dean Chen Riqing.

At the seminar, Dean Chen Riqintg firstly introduced the  circumstance of college development and the achievements CCIS had obtained in recent years. Subsequently, combining with the actual situation of CCIS, the experts came up forward to valuable comments and suggestions to the following work of CCIS respectively focusing on the undergraduate teaching and research. IEEE Fellow Wang Jiangzhou believed that there were too many undergraduate majors and the division was excessive. He indicated that undergraduate education should give priority to General Education, strive to develop graduate education and beef up the scientific research strength. Professor Shu Feng suggested that more potential teachers and post doctorates should be recruited with clear research tasks and highly competitive terms of employment. Moreover, college needed to make full use of the research ability of young teachers. Professor Min Geyong put forward  favorable opinions in the application for Natural Science Foundation of China  and Profession Xu Qingxian brought forward valuable suggestions in the publication of academic paper.

Finally, Party Secretary Chen Yida addressed his sincere gratitude to each expert for their support and help to the development of CCIS. He hoped that each expert would continue to concern about and stand by the college construction and development to yield more fruitful results.
