CCIS Held the Assessment Meeting of Academic Degree Authorized Unit of Statistics

On December 14th, 2017, CCIS held the Assessment Meeting of Academic Degree Authorized Unit of Statistics. The assessment experts group, formed by Professor Zhu Jianping from Xiamen University, Professor Huang Keming from Fuzhou University, Professor Sun Qiubi from Fuzhou University, Professor Lin Huonan from Fujian Normal University, and Professor Ye Wenzhen from Fujian Jiangxia University, etc. made a assessment to the first level discipline master degree of Statistics. You Haochen from Graduate Education Office of FAFU and Cai Jianfeng from Degree Awarding Office of Graduate School guided the meeting. The attendees were leadership of CCIS including Party Secretary Chen Yida, Dean Chen Riqing and supervisors of postgraduate students.


Deputy Dean Liu Jingfu, on behalf of CCIS made a report on the aspects of Statistics Degree Authorized Unit’s basic situation,goals and standards, basic condition, talent cultivation and assessment work. After the report, the assessment experts group communicated with the representatives of supervisors. After the meeting, the experts visited the laboratories of statistics.

Through listening to the report, field trip, teacher-student seminar and collection of relevant materials as well as serious discussion, experts group concluded that the Statistics Degree owned a specific training goal, reasonable research direction, a thorough faculty structure, and abundant teaching and research achievements. Beisdes, the teaching and research supporting condition was relatively comprehensive and the training system was normative. Moreover, they indicated that the degree unit need to introduce more high- level talents and construction capital.

The assessment fully affirmed the achievements of the construction of Statistics Degree Authorized Unit and gave the direction of future development, which laid a good foundation of formal assessment next year.
