On June 13rd, the first student of “Chinese and American science and technology personnel exchange program”, Zachary Schultzhaus, a Phd student of TAMU arrived at FAFU. The student would stay in the laboratory of the vice president Wang Zonghua for eight-weeks to carry out cooperative research.

The “Chinese and American science and technology personnel exchange program” was the cooperation program cosigned by Ministry of National Science and Technology and National Science Foundation of America. The specific content of the program is to arrange the American outstanding graduate and Phd students to come to Chinese universities and research institutes to carry out cooperative research with Chinese researchers under the guidance of a Chinese supervisor. It aimed to promote the exchanges and scientific research cooperation between young scholars of China and the United States and help the domestic universities and research institutes to develop new international cooperative partners. The program has been carried out for eleven years since 2004, and received the consistent high praise from both the governments and the scientific world of the two countries. This year is the third year that the program was opened to the national key universities and research institutes. There are only 40 programs that were approved for the country, and only two universities in Fujian Province (XMU and FAFU) that were selected for executing the program.
