FAFU and Durban University of Technology Constructing the Confucius Institute

On March 4, 2013, the Memorandum of Understanding(MOU)between Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and Durban University of Technology is officially signed in Southern Sun hotel of Durban, South Africa. It indicates that the two universities will have full range of inter-school exchanges and cooperations in the future. Moreover, it marks the construction of the Confucius Institute entering the substantive operation stage. The president of FAFU Lan Siren and the principal of Durban University of Technology Ahmed Bawa sign the MOU on behalf of their own university respectively.

Jointly constructing the Confucius Institute with Durban University of Technology is the important measure for FAFU to actively practice the national International Promotion of Chinese Strategy, strengthen the international promotion of Chinese language and culture, expand the international influence of Fujian Province and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and strengthen the construction of FAFU teachers and disciplines. At present, the preparatory work of constructing the Confucius Institute has been pushed forward smoothly. According to the plan, the Confucius Institute will be officially established in late March 2013 in Durban, South Africa.
Durban University of Technology is a technical public university. It has six colleges, including Accounting and Informatics, Applied Science, Arts and Design, Engineering and the Built Environment, Health Sciences and Management Sciences. In addition, it has comprehensive degree programs and reasonable discipline structure. It offers the junior college education, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. The success of signing the MOU between two universities lays a solid foundation for them to carry out teaching activities, research cooperations and student exchanges in the future.
