On the evening of March 12th, the Innovation Building Room 108 witnessed the 1st Academic Career Planning Contest. After the preliminary contest,  10 students entered a list for the finals. Zhixin Zhang, the Deputy Secretary of OEC Youth League Committee, Yan Liu, the counselor of 2016 class, as well as Dianlong Chen, the class head teacher were the judges.

All the contestants gave presentations about their personal academic career planning one by one. During the contest, the academic career plans based on the personal growth, study experience, and personal characters were showed to express contestants’ ideas on self recognition, environmental recognition, and academic career goals, implementations and adjustments. The judges evaluated their performances mainly from their writing plans as well as the implementation capabilities.

After the competitive contest, Weicheng Li from Landscape Architecture (Sino-Canadian program, 2016 class) won the first prize. The second prize winners were Yizheng Wang from Ecology and Taoyu Lu from Agricultural Resources and Environment (Sino-Canadian program, 2016 class). Also, Agricultural Resources and Environment students Qingyang Li, Shujin Wu, and Shaoning Fang won the third prize. In the end of the contest, Yan Liu and Dianlong Chen both emphasized that it was a necessity for Sino-Canadian program students to plan their academic careers for multiple benefits. They also spoke highly of the contestants and encouraged students to improve themselves by participating in the activities after class.

Generally, the Academic Career Planning Contest is another significant step after opening the Sino-Canadian program academic career planning course, and holding “3 special lectures”. It aims at encouraging and guiding students to strengthen their awareness on self recognition as well as environmental recognition, and therefore helps them study theories, practice skills, improve themselves, and prepare for future challenges.
