Promote Internationalization of Education

As an important platform for foreign exchange, OEC promotes and leads the development of the internationalization in education at FAFU. In the past 10 years, FAFU has successfully established exchange agreements and cooperation with 40 universities in 12 countries, including Canada, United States, Austria, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany and others. In early 2013, Confucius Institute was established by FAFU and Durban University of Technology in South Africa. As the increasing focus of attracting a large number of foreign talents in research and teaching, a new comprehensive and multilevel international exchange and cooperation platform is gradually formed.

Education Reform

The implementation of China-Canada cooperation in running schools projects played a positive role in the education reform at FAFU. It provided important references to further improve the level of undergraduate teaching and training. Since 2004, FAFU has successfully introduced bilingual courses of Agricultural Ecology, Microeconomics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Project Seminar and other high quality courses, which effectively improved the on-campus teaching qualities. Through the programs, a large number of teaching faculty at FAFU had the opportunity to attend teaching demonstration, model course observation, assist foreign teachers, and visit foreign universities for long term training. As a result, a strong team of young teaching faculty, with excellent bilingual capability has been cultivated.

Train High Quality Students

OEC is devoted to educate internationally-competitive talents with global experience and skills. In the past 10 years, 462 students from OEC have been sent abroad to study, 93 of those won Dean’s list of Faculty of Agriculture at Dalhousie University, 111 students graduated from Dalhousie University with high honors, 206 students received a variety of scholarships with a total value of $39,7205 Canadian dollars. Almost 100 graduates received entrance scholarships to pursue their M.Sc. Degree or Ph.D. Degree in the international renowned universities, such as University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, and McGill University. A large number of the OEC graduates are actively participating in the economic development in China using their intelligence to modernize the agricultural industry.
