FAFU Holds 17th International Symposium for JUNCAO Industry Development and Academicians’ & Experts’ Forum

In the morning of June 18th, the 17th International Symposium for JUNCAO Industry Development and Academicians’ & Experts’ Forum jointly organized by FAFU and Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Fujian Province was held in Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center. More than 260 guests from UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), UN Delegation of JUNCAO Technology Learning attended the symposium. The guests from 24 countries along the routes of “The Belt and Road Initiative” carried out in-depth discussions on the topic of “Poverty Alleviation via JUNCAO Industry, International Cooperation under ‘the Belt and Road Initiative’ and Sustainable Development”. Zheng Baodong, vice president of FAFU, presided over the opening ceremony of the symposium.

Lan Siren, President of FAFU, Armin Plum, Senior Programme Management Officer, Division for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) DESA, Carlos Watson, Lin Xuefeng, representatives of FAO, and John Konny Gimiseve, Provincial Administrator, Eastern Highlands Provincial Administration, Papua New Guinea delivered speeches respectively.

Lan Siren introduced the JUNCAO Technology of FAFU and pointed out that it provided a new way for ecological protection, resource utilization and industrial development. He also expressed the wish to pool global efforts to promote the development of JUNCAO industry and therefore bring tangible benefits to more countries and people.

Armin Plum explicated the aims and significance of the UN JUNCAO Technology Program; Carlos Watson commended JUNCAO Technology for it meets the specific needs of many developing countries, boosts global development and provides solutions for those countries to overcome developmental challenges and promote sustainable development goals. John Konny Gimisevve proclaimed that the government will support the development of JUNCAO Technology to make Eastern Highlands a pilot of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The opening ceremony was followed by keynote speeches, namely, “The Promising JUNCAO Technology” by Xie Lianhui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and “Application Prospect of Forage in Animal Feeding” by Wu Xin, Professor of the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, CAS. They probed into the prospects of JUNCAO Technology in poverty and hunger alleviation, resource conservation, energy provision and ecosystem management as well as the future of integrated plant breeding of JUNCAO Technology.

Keynote speeches such as “JUNCAO Technology and Sustainable Development”, “Advances on Pharmacological Effects of Ganoderma Lucidum cultivated with JUNCAO”, “Prospects for the Development of JUNCAO in Uzbekistan”, “Application of JUNCAO Technology in Central Africa” were also delivered by 23 experts and scholars to explore global development of JUNCAO Technology.
