The research team of Professor Zheng Baodong of College of Food Science of FAFU got the research progress in carbohydrate separation. the relevant research achievements was published online in the journal of《Scientific Reports》(IF=5.228) on March 9th, 2017, which firstly reported on the highly efficient and massive separation technology of oligosaccharides from lotus seeds. The first author of the paper was Dr./lecturer Lu Xu, the corresponding authors were Professor Zheng Baodong of FAFU and Professor Xiao Jianbo of Humboldt, Germany. The research was funded by the National Nature Science Foundation of China and the High-Level University Construction Program of FAFU.

The research provided a new method for the isolation and purification of carbohydrates, which had a profound impact on the relevant research and had a great application potential. A national invention patent has been applied for this technology.
