On September 29 to 30, local time in South Africa, the third Durban Wharf Cultural Festival was held in Wison’s Wharf. The Festival was organized by Transnet National Ports Authority and co-organized by EThekwini Municipality, Department of KZN Tourism, Department of KZN Economic Development, South African Navy, and Confucius Institute (CI) at Durban University of Technology and MSC Cruises.
The theme of the festival is Heritage of South Africa, which aimed to display the history of the most prosperous commercial wharf of South Africa and share the multicultural development and inheritance of Durban. The Confucius Institute at Durban University of Technology, for the first time, participated in the event as a co-organizer, and offered local people a splendid feast of Chinese traditional culture – the Dragon culture.

A ceremony of dragon-boat-launching and dragon-eye-dotting was held before the activity. Eric Apelgren, Director of the International Relations Department of the Durban Municipal Government, David Myles, Vice-President of the Durban Point Yacht Club, Li Jingmin, President of the Durban-Guangzhou International Friendship Cities Association, and Wu Lin, Chinese Director of CI of FAFU at DUT, jointly dotted the eyes of the Chinese Dragon.
