It is known that every September is the “South African cultural Heritage Month” and also the celebrating month of “Global Confucius College Day”. In order to support the multicultural heritage show and display rich Chinese culture, a Traditional Chinese Moon Cultural Gala was held at Durban City Hall in the evening of September 17. Decorated with lanterns and streamers, the Hall was filled with over 800 distinguished friends, including some government officials of all levels, diplomatic crops, teachers and students from Durban University, and local Chinese. They gathered together to celebrate the Mid-autumn Festival, and witnessed a cultural and visual feast that jointly performed by Chinese and South African artists. This special kind of joint performance featured by rich ethnic and traditional cultures of both countries demonstrated the good wishes of people of different cultural backgrounds for a happy life and harmonious world.

Organized jointly by Confucius Institute at Durban University, Fujian Association and KZN SAPS, the Gala received high attention from both local and Chinese media. The print media, such as the Independent, Sunday Tribune, Africa Times and Chinese Headlines, as well as the Internet media, all conducted special interviews and made specific reports about the theme.
